DanceBreak Master Class with Josh Prince (Beautiful, Shrek) and Martha Nichols (Top 10 "So You Think You Can Dance"), Sept 30th, 2-5p @ MMAC, Manhattan Movement are Arts Center. JOSH PRINCE: In 2006, Josh decided to turn his attention toward Direction and Choreography and presented his work at a prestigious industry showcase, Dance Break. Three weeks later, Josh was asked to join the creative team of the Tony nominated Shrek, The Musical, which opened on Broadway at the Broadway Theater in 2009 and went on to tour the US and play in London’s West End at the Theater Royal Drury Lane. For his choreography in Shrek, The Musical he received an Outer Critics Circle Nomination. Since then, he has had the pleasure of working at Carnegie Hall (The Jerry Springer Opera, starring Harvey Keitel), Lincoln Center (Camelot, starring Gabriel Byrne – PBS), The Kennedy Center (Spring Gala, hosted by Liza Minelli; Latino Inaugural Celebration in 2013 with Chita Rivera and Rita Moreno), Town Hall (All Singing All Dancing, co-director), The Brooklyn Academy of Music (The Bridge Project 2009/10, directed by Sam Mendes), and The New Group (The Kid; Bunty Berman Presents). In London, he has worked at The Old Vic (The Bridge Project), The Royal Festival Hall (Singin’ In The Rain) and The Royal Albert Hall (My Fair Lady, Chor.; BBC Prom 59 starring Family Guy creator, Seth MacFarlane. Dir./chor.). Josh most recently finished choreographing the new hit Broadway show, Beautiful – The Carole King Musical, which was nominated for a Tony in 2013. For his work on Beautiful, he was nominated for the Fred and Adele Astaire Award. Beautiful is slated open in London’s West End in February 2015 and will launch a US tour early that same fall. Josh has enjoyed teaching at such universities as Yale, NYU, CCM, OU, FSU as well as Steps, On Broadway and Broadway Dance Center. Josh is also the Founder and Artistic Director of The Broadway Dance Lab, the first non profit organization in NYC specifically dedicated to giving musical theater choreographers the resources they need to practice their craft and test their ideas away from the pressures associated with production. www.broadwaydancelab.org Martha Nichols: Top Ten on So You Think You Can Dance (Season 2), Since then Martha was a principal dancer with Unity LA, directed by Tessandra Chavez, and has performed on awards shows such as MTV'S Video Music Awards, The American Music Awards, The Academy Awards, and The Billboard Awards. Other credits include, GAP, Disney, NBA, Jo+Jax, Cirque Du Soleil, and Dancing With the Stars. Martha has performed with Jesse J, Christina Aguilera, Nicki Minaj, Neil Patrick Harris, Ne-Yo, and more. She has toured with Rihanna, Kylie Minogue and Madonna, and can be seen in movies La La Land, Ted 2, and ABC's 2016 remake of Dirty Dancing Choreographically, won The 2016 Capezio A.C.E. Awards and showcased her work in Destiny Rising at The Joyce. She has assisted Mandy Moore, Tony Testa, Tessandra Chavez, Tabitha and Napoleon, Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, Andy Blankenbuehler, and more. Nichols was assistant Choreographer on Madonna's Rebel Heart Tour, Bitch, I'm Madonna Music Video, Demi Lovato's Unbroken Promo Tour, and a contributing choreographer on Mariah Carey's Elusive Chanteuse Tour. She is on faculty with New York City Dance Alliance, and During her time in LA she taught at The Edge Performing Arts Center and Millennium Dance Complex. She has taught in Italy, Costa Rica, Mexico, Australia, and South Africa, but is most excited to once again call NYC home, and to teach at Broadway Dance Center.
