Lady GaGa has admitted that she received a career boost when Christina Aguilera was accused of stealing her look.

Aguilera performed at the MTV Video Music Awards in September wearing platinum blonde hair extensions, a black catsuit and a mask, leading many commentators to claim she was imitating Lady GaGa’s distinctive sense of style.

“Well, it was very flattering when it happened,” GaGa told DS. “She’s such a huge star and if anything I should send her flowers, because a lot of people in America didn’t know who I was until that whole thing happened.

“It really put me on the map in a way, though of course I don’t just want to be remembered for the Christina Aguilera scandal.”

However, Lady GaGa - real name Stefani Germanotta - insisted that she is not holding a grudge against Aguilera.

“There are no hard feelings with Christina at all,” she said. “What it showed me was, even though I’ve only been on the commercial market for seven or eight months, I’ve really burned graphic images of my visuals onto the irises of my fans.

“They saw a huge, Grammy-winning star who’s been around for years and they recognised Lady GaGa. That to me is quite an accomplishment.”

Christina Aguilera has not been approached to design a new clothes range for the High Street store Topshop, Gigwise can exclusively reveal.

Media reports today (December 28th) claimed the singer was on the verge of signing a multi-million pound deal with owner Sir Phillip Green.

However, a spokesman for Topshop exclusively told Gigwise that the reports were “complete speculation”.

He added: “Topshop are not in discussion with any celebrity or artist to create new ranges for us.”

Singer Christina Aguilera may design a new range for Britain’s high street fashion chain Topshop owned by Sir Philip Green.The mirror.co.uk reports that Aguilera could expect to earn close to 1 million pound per range.

“Sir Philip has started talks with her and hopes to sign a deal soon. She has visited his offices in London and they are thrashing out the details. Philip loves her style and believes she would add something new to TopShop. Christina is the blonde bombshell who is into pop whereas Kate is the rock chick and model. She’d appeal to a younger shopper than Kate,” a source said.
